The biggest expectation of this year’s presentation was the new integrated motorhomes. The rumours proved to be true and Aristeo will now be manufactured in Spain, like the other models. As the design is completely new, it will also get a new name – Amphitryon. The 2020 season will be based on new Fiat engines, meaning that even the base version will be 10 hp more powerful (140 hp), while the Northautokapp package will include 160 hp and a 9-speed automatic gearbox! This will be a major step forward. With Fiat, there will be no visual changes to the dashboard or exterior, while Ford will receive a slight refresh to both the exterior and interior. We like the new steering wheel in the Ford very much, while the “retro” radio did not particularly impress us. Both new engines, Ford’s and Fiat’s, will comply with the new EURO 6d environmental standard and will be equipped with an AdBlue system.

The Mileo, Tessoro and Sport lines have received a few visual changes and improvements, and the number of Benivan models and UP versions has also increased.

AMPHITRYON

The exterior has slightly sharper lines than its predecessor, giving it a more serious look. This year it will be available in three versions. In all three versions, the front section, where the seating area is located, will be the same. It is a very spacious living area with opposing seats. The rear section can be:

  • Longitudinal rear bed (with the option to convert into a huge full-width bed)
  • Island bed
  • In a new layout, presented by Benimar for the first time this year – rear bathroom and separate longitudinal beds.

Amphitryon will now be aligned with the other lines. In the base version, it will therefore include the Truma CP Plus control unit, rear speakers and central locking, which also includes the entrance door. The interior is designed very modernly, as we have come to expect from Benimar, and there is a noticeable step forward in build details. The lockers have the same closing system as the Mileo range already had, but it has now been further upgraded with concealed latches.

The Northautokapp package for Amphitryon will be very interesting. It will include an Alde system with underfloor heating, 160 hp, and a 9-speed automatic gearbox + the rest as in the (former) Mileo range.

The best news is that the price of the base Amphitryon will remain the same as last year! (from €71,000) Despite all the new features (new Fiat engine, CP Plus, central locking of the entrance door, rear speakers, improved build quality… so, going forward, Amphitryon will offer even more when focusing on value for money.)

Summary:

LAYOUTS

In the 2020 season, the following layouts will be available:

NEW FEATURES and DETAILS

All ranges will have the following new features:

PERSEO

The Perseo range will essentially be Amphitryon in a low-profile version. The equipment, look and packages will be the same.

MILEO

The Mileo class has undergone minor visual changes. High gloss has been replaced by matte white, the finish above the rear beds has been changed, and the doors that separate the space inside the motorhome are slightly different (only on layouts that have internal doors, e.g. M263). It seems that at Benimar, materials that are easier to maintain are increasingly preferred. 🙂 Last year they replaced the transparent sink with a stone-look version, and this year the lockers and table will also be more “resistant” to fingerprints. There is also a new car radio with a larger screen (the reversing camera will also be easier to see).

TESSORO

The Tessoro range has undergone the biggest visual transformation. In addition to the already mentioned new dashboard, steering wheel and slightly changed cab exterior, the interior has also been updated. The furniture has a stronger brown tone, the table and countertop are in a dark grey marble imitation, and the lockers are hard to describe—they have a kind of 3D brushed pattern. The Tessoro range has also gained basic ambient lighting.

The Tessoro Northautokapp will also be slightly more distinctive. The cab will be silver, and the decals will be the same as on the Perseo and Amphitryon ranges.

FORD cab section – New for 2020 in the standard equipment:

SPORT

In terms of materials, the interior design is the same as in the Tessoro range. Two models are based on Fiat (S323, S346) and two on Ford (S363, S340up).

UP MODELS

What are UP versions? UP models are very affordable and ready to hit the road. They are available in an exactly defined configuration, meaning that packages cannot be added or removed. They come with equipment that is very useful on the road: awning, 140W solar panel, antenna, 20” TV, travel kit, reversing sensors, battery, while some details are removed in return (which do not have such high practical value or are less important to some). Therefore, in UP versions the front bumper is black, the seats are not in the upholstery colour, there is no side lighting, and there is also no ambient lighting or front fog lights (the last two were also not included in the base version last year).

This year, quite a few new UP versions have been added, so in the 2020 season the following UP models will be available:

T440up, T463up, T495up, S346up, B104up, B116up, B140up

BENIVAN

In the 2020 season, a new model was introduced: the B104 Up – a small and very affordable model. The most sought-after van layout (rear bunk beds) is now also available in a UP version (116 Up). Benimar’s most premium campervan, the B119, has received a beautiful panoramic front window.
